Cometstar leaped up onto high rock to make the announcements.

"We have lost five good cats. Foxpaw, Windpaw, Quietbreath, Copperclick and Hailpaw." She meowed, her voice wavering at the long list. "They will be missed and we hold vigil for them tonight" the young cats voice cracked from the strain of these past few months and with a flick of her tail to dismiss the meeting, she padded out into the forest.

Cometstar looked at her reflection in the water, eyes dull and fur matted. She had been made leader at just 18 moons and she had struggled with the stress from day one. She knew why. She was never meant to be the leader of Sunclan. Because both her parents had been murderous rogues, she had never received her nine lives. She was just as vulnerable as her clanmates. She looked up at the skies. "Dear spirits help me" she murmured but she heard no reply, only sensed rejection, that the spirits had turned their back on her. She hissed in frustration. "Why do you judge me by my parents" She spat at the skies, eyes glittering. "Then hear me now, I no longer honour you as my ancestors, you are NOTHING to me!" she screamed at the sky and in the distance thunder boomed. She heard a voice in her head. "You will pay dearly for that insult Cometflash" it whispered in a cold hard voice and Cometstar shivered. She was no longer a leader, no longer had the blessing of spirits, not that she ever had.

"I don't care" Cometflash mumbled sadly, before freezing as she heard a snarl from behind her. A fox, a vixen, stepped out of the bushes, obviously alerted by her yells. You will pay dearly for that insult Cometflash the spirits words coursed through her mind. Cometstar backed up against a tree, snarling. She may not be a leader, and she may not honour the spirits, but she still must protect my clan. She leaped and scored her claws down the foxes side. It yelped and nipped her tail but the warrior barely felt the pain. She felt alive. More alive than she'd ever felt in these past moons. She was Cometstar, warrior of Sunclan. She jumped again and landed on the vixens back, digging her fangs into its neck. It screamed and threw her off before grabbing her by the throat and shaking Cometstar violently. Pain coursed through her as the fox dropped her and leaned in. She layed still for a moment, fighting the pain before leaping up and biting the jugular vein along its throat. Hard. She must defend her clan.

The fox yelped at the sudden attack and thrashed on the ground, trying to dislodge the cat but it couldn't and almost gracefully, it slowed down...to a stop. Cometstar removed her fangs as blood dripped from her mouth and the scent clogged up her nose. She looked up and the pain from her throat made it hard. She winced and looked around her. Her own blood was running freely, and she could almost feel her strength running with it. Staggering, the silvery grey she cat stumbled from the fox carcass, strangely calm. She was going to die. Away from her clanmates, with none to ease her pain and without mourners. It was almost better this way. She stumbled away, leaving a trail of blood behind her as the ex Sunclan leader made her slow journey to the edge of Sunclan territory. The sun beat down, burning the fur along her back with vicious heat.

The she cat barely noticed as she crossed the borders, now in the territory of rogues and loners. It was a hot day and heat shimmered off the ground, not helping her already blurred vision. She could feel flies settling on the raw flesh of her savaged throat and neck but she barely had the strength to shake them away. She caught her paw on a stone and stumbled, but got back to her paws again. She must not die near Sunclan, it was best they thought she had slipped away alive than suffered this. She glanced back up at the sun, and could almost feel the spirits many eyes burning into her soul, feeling no pity, showing no mercy. Cometstar looked back down and with a deep breath, she collapsed, eyelids fluttering as many thoughts ran through her mind.
She may not have been destined to have nine lives.
She may not have the spirits blessing.
She may be frowned upon by the spirits.
She may not go to the spirits hunting grounds for peace.
But one thing was for sure.
She had kept to the most important vow of a warrior.

She had defended her clan with her life.

And now at peace, Cometflash slipped away, never again to fight for her clan.

God I cried when I wrote the ending :(

Sorry guys but I'm just not active enough. I haven't got enough time for this group along with everything else. But Gingerpelt my loyal deputy shall take over and i know I am leaving Sunclan in safe paws. Sorry guys, and farewell Sunclan, we had some nice memories.
